Orthophosphoric acid can be used as an effective phosphorus source in both wet and dry feed, as well as to regulate the pH in the pigs’ drinking water.
The use of the acid as a phosphorus sourc in the feed helps meet the nutritional needs of the pigs and supports healthy growth and development of the pig herd.
It can also be used as assistance in maintaining the proper pH level in the drinking water, ensuring optimal digestion and health for the pigs.
The acid is available in cans with 30 kg, drums with 225 kg and IBC containers with 1,400 kg.
If orthophosphoric acid is used pH regulating it requires HACCP certification.
If the acid is used as phosphorus source it does not require HACCP certification.
Mogens Bækgaard, Deputy Chief at SvineXperten, has written an informative (only in Danish) article in LandbrugsAvisen, focusing on how too little phosphorus in the feed for pigs can lead to tail biting.
